Prior Major Work Experience

Kaho`olawe Unexploded Ordnance Clearance Project, 1997 and 1998 (1998 to 2000 as consultant to Royal Contracting Co., Ltd. for this project)

Owner: United States Department of the Navy

Represented Royal Contracting Co., Ltd. as a proposal writing team member of the Parsons-UXB Joint Venture. The Navy awarded the $240 million contract to the Joint Venture in September of 1997

Lead person in drafting the project's multi-million dollar logistics study

Designated as construction project manager for all construction (roads, temporary landing strip, upgrades to existing structures, new structures, upgraded fresh water supply, and utilities) to be done on Kaho`olawe in support of the cleanup operations

 

Vancouver House Offsite Sewer, 1998

Owner: City and County of Honolulu

Upgrading of the existing sewer system on Metcalf Street between Hunnewell and Marques Streets in support of new University of Hawaii housing on Vancouver Street

Project required 21-foot deep excavations through up to 8 feet of solid rock in heavily traveled Metcalf Street.

Existing underground utilities are old and require special precautions to maintain their integrity.

Coordinated redesign and/or relocation efforts between various public utility companies

 

Kilauea Avenue Improvements, 1997

Owner: State Dept. of Accounting & General Services, Kapiolani Community College

Roadway widening between Makapuu Avenue and 18th Avenue.

Completed project with no accidents in spite of heavy daily student and neighborhood traffic on an already narrow roadway.

 

H-1 Improvements at Pali Highway Off-Ramp, Eastbound, 1996-1997

Owner: State of Hawaii, Dept. of Transportation, Highways Division

Responsible for the widening of the existing off-ramp to accommodate increased storage and improve traffic flow while maintaining public use of existing off-ramp.

Scheduled work that required ramp closure to be done at night to minimize inconvenience to the public.

 

Waikele Improvements, 1991-1996

Owner: Amfac JMB, Hawaii

Managed and supervised numerous projects involving infrastructure improvements in what was once only sugar cane fields.

Work included widening of a portion of Kamehameha Highway above Waipahu Street, mass grading, and 800-foot long, 60-foot wide trapezoidal-shaped concrete drainage channel, two roadway overpasses for future golf course crossings, as well as a wide variety of subdivision improvements for future residential development.
