ExperienceAn Adjunct Associate Professor since 1996, Kurt Mitchell is co-founder and Chairman/CEO of Kober/Hanssen/Mitchell Architects, one of Hawaii’s largest architectural firms with offices in Hawaii and California.
His professional experience includes practice with various firms in California and two local firms—Alfred A. Yee Associates and Architects Hawaii –where he worked on a number of significant projects. After joining the Honolulu firm of Charles Kober Associates as a design principal, he became involved in many projects that won local, regional and national design awards.
An active member of the professional community, Kurt Mitchell has served as Chair of several AIA/Honolulu Chapter committees, AIA Chapter President, and Director of the Hawaii State Council. He also belongs to the American Planning Associates, Institute of Store Planners, International Council of Shopping Centers and National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, and sits on the Board of the BIA National Association of Home Builders.
Presently, he oversees design projects for the Kapolei Civic Center, Kau High School, and Nanakuli Elementary School.
