2009 Bonded Materials Company Scholarship

U.H. Architectural Student Awarded Scholarship from Bonded Materials Company

April 28, 2009

Honolulu, Hawaii – Shae Grimm, an undergraduate student at the University of Hawaii, School of Architecture, was awarded the 2009-2010 Eric N. Jacobsen Memorial Scholarship, a two year $10,000 scholarship donated by Bonded Materials Company.

Grimm, who was awarded the four semester scholarship, also accepted a paid internship with Bonded for employment in the company’s concrete quality control and testing laboratory during the summer of 2009.

The scholarship was created in memory of Eric N. Jacobsen, a beloved and invaluable Product Manager for Bonded Materials Company, who died suddenly in 1996. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and reward community involvement and academic excellence by engineering students. Bonded Materials, a Hawaii company, is a diversified manufacturer and distributor of construction and concrete related products with sales offices in Honolulu, Kona, Guam, Saipan, Phoenix and Houston.

From a list of applicants supplied by the University of Hawaii, School of Architecture, Mr. Grimm was unanimously selected by Technical Services Director Robert Taylor and company majority owners, Jeff and Brian Deer.
