While the west often favors low-density low-rise communities
based on the small-town model (and parts of Asia Pacific pine
for such story-book living), most of the region's designers
and planners are faced with providing housing and communities
for very large numbers in a truncated design window. What
models and paradigms are appropriate in Asia Pacific? Has
the Corbusian vision found a home elsewhere other than Hong
Kong?
Papers are invited which explore case studies and new solutions
to these problems of rapidity and quantity, while providing
for advancing levels of livability and affordability. Typological
studies, site-specific solutions for bypassed difficult sites,
schemes that advance the potential for flexibility and alternative
uses will be welcomed. |
