Vladimir Ossipoff, FAIA, Design Excellence Award
To honor design excellence in the architecture profession:
Joseph G. Farrell, AIA - Hawaii
The Vladimir Ossipoff, FAIA, Design Excellence Award honors the
outstanding design excellence by an architect of HawaiŒi that
created inspirational projects to define architecture. This award
acknowledges the important contributions by Ossipoff in defining
architecture in Hawaii, particularly with consideration to the
environment. In 1997 this award was presented to Charles R. Sutton,
FAIA.
Ernest H. Hara, FAIA, Distinguished Service Award
To honor outstanding lifetime service to the architecture profession:
Elmer E. Botsai, FAIA - Hawaii
The Ernest H. Hara, FAIA, Distinguished Service Award honors the
significant contributions by an architect within Hawaii that performed
exceptional service to promote architecture. For the initial presentation,
the award recognized the important achievements of Hara, especially
the building of a corporate relationship with architects in Japan
over a period of 35 years. To distinguish the award, the School
of Architecture renamed the award on behalf of Ernest Hara. Frank
S. Haines, FAIA, received this award in 1997.
Asia Pacific Architectural Scholar Award
To honor inspirational accomplishment in architectural thought
and design:
Kenneth Yeang, Hon. FAIA - Malaysia
The Asia Pacific Architectural Scholar Award honors the lifetime
contributions by an architect within the Asia Pacific region that
provides inspirational accomplishment in architectural thought
and design. The advancement of knowledge about architecture due
to significant scholarship is particularly recognized. The award
was presented in 1995, recognizing the important achievements
of Fumihiko Maki, Hon. FAIA, of Japan.
