Research Travel Fellowship

The purpose of this Fund is to provide research travel support for Doctor of Architecture (“DArch”) students enrolled at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa School of Architecture. Funds shall be used for research expenses to the Asia/Pacific region for culturally-oriented travel of three (3) months or one semester. Preference will be given for travel related to a course in the architecture curriculum, such as the final DArch project. Upon return, students will give a public presentation and write a report that will be archived at the School of Architecture John and Maria Lynn Reading Room.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled at the School of Architecture pursuing a DArch degree.
  • Students with no background or previous experience in the specific area of travel, as self-identified in the application process.
  • Students that have submitted a proposal to the selection committee that includes a plan to engage with the local community, with preference for students staying with a host family.
