This talk will show how a range of traditional Japanese built forms responded to distinctive materials, objects, and moments, and will argue that the built acknowledgement of such events can help to affirm the inherent individuality of our own being and buildings in general can facilitate the sharing of the normally subjective experiences of this, here and now.
