The UHCDC Breaking Cycles project, led by Associate Professor Cathi Ho Schar (SoA), Lorinda Riley (Office of Public Health Studies/School of Hawaiian Knowledge), and Dan Milz (Department of Urban & Regional Planning/Matsunaga Institute for Peace), with sponsorship from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and support from community partners, received an Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA)  Great Places Honorable Mention Award for the Place Planning category. The jury noted the “impressively extensive and multi-layered engagement process” and “clear focus on systems thinking and various measures of individual and community health.”
