On April 17, 2025, the School of Architecture and UHCDC hosted over 50 students from Waipahu and Farrington High Schools in an event sponsored and co-organized by AIA Honolulu and the Architecture Youth Outreach Committee (AYO). A welcome from Mo Zell and overview of the BEnvD program by Karla Sierralta, was followed by talk stories and visits to ARCH 102 with Lance Walters, ARCH 202 with Eric Peterson, the fabrication shop with Steve Hill, and a fun filled hour playing climate equity games designed by UHCDC and students in the ARCH 490: Game on! elective taught by Cathi Ho Schar. Big mahalo to AIA Honolulu Executive Director Julia Fink for applying for AIA national K-12 grant funding, and to Lauren Kim, Ethan Twer, Randolph Bautista, and Duane Fukumoto for the AYO support!
