Two SoA Undergraduates Awarded Research Funding to Design Street Shading

School of Architecture undergraduates Kate Cousins and Sara Salaparuta have been awarded a $6,400 grant from the UH Mānoa Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program to design and build a prototype sidewalk shading structure for the north side of King Street. The research, supported by faculty mentor Kevin Nute, is intended to help reduce vehicle usage and reactivate Honolulu’s commercial streets by improving walkability.
