MLA Students Win 2024 Hawaii ASLA General Design Awards

The following Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) students won 2024 general student design awards in the Hawaii Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects triennial awards program:

Alzira Fernandes, MLA ‘24, received a Merit Award for her capstone project “On the Edge: Mitigating Risk and Encouraging Stewardship in Hawaii’s Pyrocene”.

Christina McWhorter, MLA ‘24, won a Merit Award for her capstone project “Protecting Hawaii’s Native Pollinators”.

Lynn Mayekawa, MLA candidate, received an Honor Award for her ARCH 696 project “A Study of Pritchardia”.

Kaylen Daquioag, MLA candidate, won an Award of Excellence for her ARCH 761 final studio project.

Additionally, MLA program alumnus Matt Higa, MLA ’21, received Hawaii ASLA’s Kupukupu Award, which recognizes an emerging professional with promise to make significant contributions to the profession through leadership, design, communication, and service.
