12/5/24, "Architectural Conservation in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands

Greetings from the Shen Gallery,

We’re excited to invite you to a special panel discussion celebrating the release of the book Architectural Conservation in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands: National Experiences and Practice.  Please refer to the attached flyer.

This event, which will also feature an accompanying exhibition, promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking conversation on contemporary conservation theory and practice.

Our panel will be led by our Dean, William (Bill) Chapman, who is one of the book’s authors, and will include a respectable group of local experts:

Alison Chiu, Associate, FAI Architects
Kiersten Faulkner, FAICP, Executive Director, Historic Hawai‘i Foundation
Don Hibbard, Ph.D., Architectural Historian
Glenn Mason, FAIA, Vice President, Mason Architects Inc.

These distinguished practitioners and scholars will share their unique insights into the current landscape of architectural conservation, offering a rich perspective on how our regional efforts fit into the global context.

This event also highlights the University of Hawaii’s School of Architecture’s new Historic Preservation program, underscoring our commitment to advancing both research and practice in this important field.

We’d love for you to join us and be part of this stimulating discussion. Here are the event details:

Date: Thursday, December 5th, 2024
Time: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Venue: Center for Architecture, AIA Honolulu, 808 Fort Street Mall, # 100, Honolulu, HI 96813.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing an enriching evening of conversation, learning, and connection.

Warmest regards,
Bundit and the Shen Gallery Team
