Come hear from some of the global architecture community’s top industry leaders on a variety of topics about practicing in the global world.
4/6: Art in Public places – An overview of the various programs that promote art in public places and the reason for set aside for art in public buildings. Participants will learn and reflect on what public art is, why we have public art, how does it work with architecture and how does it enhance the cultural experience of the user
4/8: Art Selection and Installation – Discussion and learning about how to select an artist for a commission and the practical considerations for art installation
4/13: Art and Architecture Application – Through a sketch problem apply the learning of the previous two days. Select a piece of art that is representative of some aspirational aspect of your hometown (or neighborhood). Design a welcome pavilion for your area that is culturally and climactically appropriate and that is accessible to residents and visitors where information can be provided, and the art can inspire appreciation of what is unique about that town or neighborhood.
