The exhibition is an in-depth study of the Honolulu mid-century modernist architect, Alfred Preis. Representing several years of Dr. McGuire’s research and writings, the virtual exhibition features a selection of Preis major works and insights into his career in Hawai’i, which began when he fled the Nazis for Honolulu in 1939.
Preis, along with Vladmir Ossipoff, was one of the most important figures in the development of a specifically modern form language for architecture on our islands and it is worthy of your attention.
