Nominee for the 2020 Governor’s Employee of the Year Award: Steven Hill

Steven Hill, director of the school’s 3-D Fabrication Lab since 2010 is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service and the University of Hawaiʻi’s Employee of the Year nomination for the 2020 Governor’s Employee of the Year Award, one of the three awards for Distinguished State Service.

Steven is a stellar employee with a clear dedication to the School of Architecture and the University of Hawaiʻi. Students continually benefit from his expertise in construction techniques, creative design, space planning and his ability to exchange and collaborate with colleagues from other campus-wide disciplines. He has a passion for furniture design, which broadens into teaching this elective course with encouragement for students to participate in the Hawaiʻi State WoodShow competition. His enthusiasm and dedication reach well beyond the confines of academe and extend into the community as well. His valuable talents and expertise are guiding a new generation of designers and future architects into our society of industry professionals.
