Karla Sierralta Wins AIA Honolulu Design Award

Assistant Professor Karla Sierralta and Brian Strawn, Senior Research Associate at UHCDC, received an AIA Honolulu Design Award in the Unbuilt category for their project titled “Plural Territories: No Permission Required!”.

Plural Territories critically reimagines the role of the pavilion in contemporary architectural discourse and production. The jury recognized the project as “a critical exercise that asks good questions about social action, inclusion and public space.”

The 2019 AIA Honolulu Design Awards gala was held at I.M. Pei’s Jefferson Hall in the East-West Center on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
