The student team in Professor Rockwood’s Fall 2018 ARCH 744 studio comprised of Jason Hashimoto, Khoa Nguyen, Valerie Ribao, and Julia Schray received an AIA Honolulu honorable mention student design award for their project “Chua Lanh”. The project was designed for a site near the main industrial zone in Da Nang, Viet Nam, and it responded to the urgent need to house rural-to-urban immigrants. The project focused on providing affordable housing that integrated to the natural and urban environment providing human comfort through passive systems and places for social gathering.
