The Fall 2018 ARCH 744 Comprehensive Design Studio, led by professor David Rockwood, undertook the design of worker housing in Da Nang, Vietnam. Three teams, each comprised of four students, completed site selection and analysis, programming, schematic design, design development, and partial construction documents. Emphasis was given to passive design strategies to achieve human thermal comfort, social and cultural relationships, and material use to promote well being.
The studio was honored to be invited by Geoff Lewis, AIA and 2018 President of the AIA Honolulu Chapter to exhibit their work at the AIA Center for Architecture. The exhibition was installed on December 14, 2018 and is expected to be up for the next several months.
