On October 5, 2018 the Hawai‘i Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) awarded an inaugural Honor Award to University of Hawai‘i students Jonathan Quach,  Thien Phuc Ngoc Nguyen and Isabella Yu.

Jonathan, Thien and Isabella received the Honor Award for their efforts in developing an innovative ecological landscape design proposal for the Ala Wai Canal in a recent international student design competition. (Advisor: Simon M. Bussiere).
